"Handbook of Elements"
So I jumped at the chance to register immediately for the next ArtBLISS workshops just announced for March 10-13. .Held at the Hampton Inn Suites at Dulles, these all-day workshops are even closer to me, right in my neighborhood.. And can you believe it?. "Metal Magician" Stephanie Lee of Semiprecious Salvage is teaching three classes collectively called Metal Magic.. One two-day workshop is the heralded "Handbook of Elements" that was my number-one pick at Art and Soul.. It mixes metal craft with plaster with book art.. How could I resist?. Another one-day workshop is an inventively-crafted "Pipe Dream" necklace, and a third is the Junk Drawer Metalsmithing Project.. I am thrilled with this prospect of intensive learning with an outstanding instructor in the smallish ArtBLISS class format.

"Pipe Dreams"
Cindy Wimmer and Jeanette Blix, the two very friendly, very accomplished local jewelry makers who sponsor the ArtBLISS events, are eagerly bringing nationally recognized jewelry and mixed media experts in their fields to the Washington D.C. area.. Their inaugural event last September impressed both teachers and students with the care and attention they gave to everyone.. Jeanette runs her own supply store and handily outfitted me with whatever tools I needed to add to my tool box, even bringing a last-minute order to the event for me.. Cindy was so gracious to me in Deryn's class, sharing her experience and design ideas and taking the edge off my inexperience.
ArtBLISS is such a wonderful workshop opportunity for this area. I hope I'll see you in class in March.. Registration is open now!

Pam, thank you for sharing the word about our upcoming workshop, and for all of the high praises! I'm looking forward to seeing you again soon! :-)
Hi Pam,
It looks to be a grand event. I don't think I will be back east in March as we are off to AZ and then skiing Whistler BC...
I do hope to attend a couple of events this year to keep me motivated and inspired.
Happy New Year again,
Catherine
It's so nice to see some of these events coming over to the east coast!
What an exciting event! I am such a fan of Stepanie Lee and enjoy her book. Looking forward to your posts!

Pam,
I don't think I would call you a beginning crafter! I call you an accomplished artist. This will be a natural. You are so fortunate to be having all of these classes near you. It looks like something I would love, too. Please post what you do!
Hugs,
SuZ
There has been some problems with Art & Soul and payments for the instructors so I have heard through the grape vine so that may be the reason for instructors to cancel ...as i said it was what I heard through the grapevine.
I took a plaster class and Junk Drawer Metalsmithing with Stephanie. You are going to love her. I'd take that journal class in a minute! Enjoy!
